This page explains how to use www.bubblepopping.space with a keyboard, with zoom, or with a screen reader. It's written in plain language on purpose. If something here doesn't work the way it says, please tell us — contact details are at the bottom.
Keyboard Navigation on This Site
Every page, including the home page, can be used without a mouse or touchscreen.
- Tab moves forward to the next link, button, or bubble. Shift + Tab moves back.
- Enter or Space activates whatever is focused — follows a link, presses a button, or pops a focused bubble.
- Skip link: the very first Tab press on any page reveals a “Skip to main content” link (on the home page, “Skip to footer navigation”). Press Enter on it to jump past repeated content.
- On the home page, Tab reaches the music button, then the settings button, before it reaches any bubbles. Bubbles come and go on their own, so how many you'll tab through varies — the skip link lets you bypass them entirely if you just want the footer links.
- In the settings panel, Escape closes it and returns focus to the settings button.
Bubble Settings
The settings button (top-right corner of the home page, a gear symbol) opens a panel with three options: larger bubbles, slower movement, and a bigger tap area. They can be combined, and your choices are remembered on this device for next time. See the Accessibility Statement for more on why these exist.
Browser Zoom and Text Size
This site does not block browser zoom. You can zoom in using your browser or operating system at any time:
- Windows / Linux browsers: Ctrl and + to zoom in, Ctrl and − to zoom out, Ctrl and 0 to reset.
- Mac browsers: Cmd and + to zoom in, Cmd and − to zoom out, Cmd and 0 to reset.
- Mobile: pinch to zoom is available on the content and legal pages. Operating-system text-size settings (in your phone's Accessibility or Display settings) are also respected where your browser supports it.
Screen Readers
If you already use a screen reader, www.bubblepopping.space's content and legal pages are built with standard headings and landmarks and should be navigable with the same commands you already use. We have not yet completed manual testing with any of these — see the Accessibility Statement for the honest current status.
We won't install anything or change your settings for you, but here's where to find the screen reader that may already be on your device, or one you can add:
- VoiceOver — built into macOS and iOS. Information: apple.com/accessibility
- Narrator — built into Windows. Information: microsoft.com/accessibility
- Orca — built into GNOME on Linux. Information: help.gnome.org/users/orca
- NVDA — free, for Windows. Information: nvaccess.org
- JAWS — paid, for Windows. Information: freedomscientific.com
As explained in the Accessibility Statement, the bubble-popping activity itself is a real-time pointing activity and cannot currently be played by screen reader alone.
